Dr. Seema Ice
Dr. Seema Ice is a Cleveland native who grew up in Lake County.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Combined Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) from Youngstown State University, finishing in two years. She attended medical school locally at Northeast Ohio Medical University as part of their advanced BS/MD program. She then went on to complete an internship and surgical residency in Ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital System in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Ice has been practicing ophthalmology since 2006. She is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and specializes in medical and surgical eye disease, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration.
Dr. Ice is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of many medical organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Ohio Ophthalmological Society.
Dr. Ice resides locally with her husband and two children. She enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Bernard D. Perla
Dr. Bernard D. Perla, M.D., has been a dedicated ophthalmologist serving Lake County, Ohio, since 1997. With over 25 years of experience, he specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology, providing expert medical and surgical eye care to patients of all ages. Dr. Perla is known for his commitment to patient-centered care and excellence in vision health.
Dr. Perla earned his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Engineering and Applied Science, where he majored in Bioengineering and minored in Chemical Engineering. He then obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at The Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland and further honed his expertise through additional training at Stanford University. He also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus at Eye Consultants of Atlanta and Scottish Rite Children’s Medical Center
Over the course of his career, Dr. Perla has held prestigious positions, including:
- President of the Ohio Ophthalmology Society (2010-2012)
- President of the Cleveland Ophthalmology Society (2012-2013)
- Counselor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology (2012-2018)
- Clinical Instructor and Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University (1996-2014)
His professional memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association, and the Cleveland Ophthalmologic Society. Dr. Perla has also contributed to medical research and published studies in esteemed ophthalmology journals.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Perla enjoys an active and fulfilling personal life. He is married and has two adult children. An avid outdoor cyclist, he finds great joy in exploring scenic routes on his bike. He is also a passionate supporter of Cleveland’s rich cultural scene, frequently attending performances by The Cleveland Orchestra and visiting the Cleveland Museum of Art.
